How to find us.

From Basildon Town Centre roundabout take the road (Laindon Link B1007) signposted to Laindon.

Go straight on at the traffic lights and turn left at the mini-roundabout at the top of the hill onto Staneway and over the railway bridge.

Stay on this road - do not bear right at the traffic lights.

Continue along Staneway for approx 1 mile, turning left into Victoria Avenue and then left into Lee Chapel Lane.

Continue down Lee Chapel Lane until you come to a gate bearing a sign saying ‘Nature Reserve’.

Please note that the speed limit along the lane past the gate is 10 mph. The lane is a bridle way and it is very likely that you will encounter horse riders, cyclists and walkers. Please drive carefully and slowly if you need to pass other users of the lane. The speed limit on Kingston Ridge Campsite is 5 mph.

If we are expecting you then this gate will be shut but unlocked, continue down this unmade road, shutting the gate behind you, and you will find us after approx ¼ mile on the right. If the gate is locked then telephone the number on the booking form (Colin White, Site Manager, on 07801 785052 or John Clark on 07729 029865 if Colin is unobtainable.

Note that the old gates have been replaced and the new gates are wider making it easier for long vehicles to get onto the site.

Lee Chapel Lane - leading to the campsite

For a number of years the site suffered a certain amount of neglect but that is now behind us. We have a determined and effective management team and service crew that have successfully turned the fortunes of the site around. Significant development work has taken place in a thoughtful and sensitive manner so as not to spoil the area. This means that we will have, from this season, resources and facilities to match the best sites. Yet one of the best features of this site is it’s unspoiled nature. A lovely little oasis of peace and tranquility just two miles by road from the centre of one of the biggest towns in Essex.

We have excellent camping facilities with places for open fires available in both large fields and small patrol sites. We can offer these facilities:

* rifle range for air-rifle shooting
* archery range
* climbing tower, traverse wall and 'leap of faith'
* mega zip wire
* adventure playground
* mini zip wire
* backwoods activities area
* water and electricity points available in all main fields
* flush loos
* gents urinal
* showers and handbasins with hot water.

Future plans include a treetop rope-walk, a caving simulator and playground for smaller children.

The site is Located in Langdon Hills surrounded by open countryside and woodlands belonging to Essex Wildlife Trust. It is just a short drive to Basildon Town Centre and Laindon (both within longish walking distance) where there are shops and railway links to London and Southend. Swimming facilities and other leisure resources are available at Basildon Town Centre, refer to www.basildon.gov.uk for more information. Westley Heights Country Park is just a short walk from the campsite.
